NTSB Issues Proposed Rules on Investigative Procedures

NTSB ISSUES PROPOSED RULES ON INVESTIGATIVE PROCEDURES

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) issues a notice of proposed rulemaking to amend its regulations regarding investigative procedures (49 CFR part 831).  Proposed changes include reorganizing Part 831 into mode-specific subparts, as follows:

Subpart A: General (applicable to all investigations)

  • Subpart B: Aviation Investigations

  • Subpart C: Highway Investigations

  • Subpart D: Railroad, Pipeline, and Hazardous Materials Investigations

  • Subpart E: Marine Investigations

NTSB also proposes to include its Certification of Party Representatives form as an appendix to Part 831.
